Website and correspondence
When you email, I may receive your name, business contact details, company name, website and the contents of your message. I use this to consider the enquiry, respond, assess conflicts and take steps towards an engagement. The lawful basis is legitimate interests for professional correspondence or necessity for pre-contractual steps where appropriate.
Cloudflare may process technical connection information to deliver and secure the website. Optional Google Analytics collects usage information only after your consent under the site’s cookie mechanism. The site does not intentionally transmit customer research records or contact messages to analytics.
Research involving third parties
In a commissioned account assessment I may analyse publicly available company information, relevant business contact details and material supplied by an IT provider under a written agreement. An individual’s professional profile or contact details may be personal data even if published online. The applicable lawful basis, controller or processor role, access restrictions and any required information notices are assessed for the actual engagement before data is processed. Where processing on a customer’s instructions requires an Article 28 contract, that contract must be in place first.
Please do not send personal data exports, private client records, credentials or confidential documentation in a first email. Share them only after I have confirmed with you that they are necessary, can lawfully be shared and will be appropriately secured. Special-category data are not part of the standard product.
Recipients and retention
Website traffic is processed by Cloudflare. Email service providers process messages and delivery metadata. Google Analytics is optional. Research may use public-source websites and an agreed working environment. Client-specific processors and retention periods are defined in each engagement; business correspondence is kept only as long as needed for its legitimate purpose and applicable legal obligations.
International transfers, if any, require an applicable UK transfer basis. Privacy questions can be sent to the address above. Individuals may have UK GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and complaint to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, subject to the statutory conditions.
